Study: Passage Of Medical Marijuana Laws Correlated With Fewer Suicides

    The enactment of statewide laws allowing for the limited use of cannabis therapeutically is associated with reduced instances of suicide, according to a discussion paper published recently by the Institute for the Study of Labor in Bonn, Germany.

    Researchers at Montana State University, the University of Colorado, and San Diego State University assessed rates of suicide in the years before and after the passage of statewide medical marijuana laws.

Lululemon’s CEO of the Year

Canadas Globe and Mail Report on Business magazine has named Lululemon Athleticas Christine Day CEO of the year. This news comes after the Vancouver-based company was criticized in the media for its new Who is John Galt? shopping bag (a reference to the Ayn Rand novel Atlas Shrugged).

Day, who came from Starbucks and has served as Lulus CEO since 2008, has overseen tremendous growth during her tenure. Lululemon saw its stock climb to almost $60 this fall, up over 280% from when Day joined the company, and a whopping 250% gain year over year, according to the article.

Day points to the companys stated values as a driving factor in that growth.

Change rules on drugs for HIV, says top doctor

The law that stops visitors to the UK and asylum seekers from getting NHS Aids drugs must be changed, a senior HIV doctor says, not just in the interests of humanity, but because the drugs now reduce the chance that they will infect other people.

Jane Anderson, the new chair of the British HIV Association, which represents doctors in the field, says there is no sense in leaving people without treatment, following studies that this year showed the drugs prevented transmission as well as keeping people alive.
