As the elderly reach what’s called the Golden Years of their lives, there are many who are distressed at such times by their inability to move about as they once could. The cost of services offered by assistants is less expensive than specialized nurses, but could still surmount to a burdensome expense, especially when the assistants are paid by the senior adults themselves. Hence, when considering the option of assisted living, it’s advisable to check if their insurance policies offer coverage for such a service, these are usually long-term health care insurance policies. Seniors should also be informed that federal medical care programs don’t cover the costs for assisted living.
If the service is to be paid by family members or the elders themselves, they should always check with the assistant or the agencies about the monthly rate they’re charging. The rates range from $10,000 to $50,000 depending on the services provided, so personal savings should always be taken into concern when looking for assisted living services.
